Housed in one of Bondi’s most charming and beloved Art Deco apartment buildings (c. 1929), and positioned beautifully on the rise of Ben Buckler peninsula, this penthouse apartment was created by joining the two top-level apartments, and enjoys magnificent views across the Bondi shoreline.
With a passion for travel and 20th Century design, the clients desired a home that captured the easy flair of Latin Art Deco, and embraced their unique collection of globally sourced mid-Century furniture and Deco lighting.
Executed collaboratively in 2016-17 with SJB Interiors and Sydney-based boutique builder Ciolino Constructions, the result is a joyful space, full of natural light, lush indoor plants and a rich mix of colour, texture and pattern, with strong nods to Havana and Buenos Aires Deco design.
Signature design elements include: Brazilian blue marble and curved grey and white terrazzo kitchen counter tops; a custom-arched, chunky green terrazzo shower powder room hob; Gio Ponti ‘Verde’ backgammon floor tiles arranged in ‘Ziggy Stardust’ format in the master ensuite; and a hand-built, fully tiled (inside and out) kids’ bath in green parsley handmade tiles.
The apartment reflects the clients’ exuberant flair and their love of the beach and Latin culture, creating wonderful spaces full of personality in which to raise their young family.
Former Glory Inc.'s inaugural project won 'Best use of interior finishes' at Belle's Luxury Builder Awards in November 2017, and was be featured in Belle Magazine's February / March 2018 edition.
